HUBUNGAN KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN DENGAN TINGKAT KECEMASAN PREOPERASI
Abstract
Preoperative phase is a crucial stage in the surgical process that is often accompanied by anxiety influenced by various factors, both intrinsic and extrinsic. This study aims to analyze the relationship between patient characteristics, including gender, education level, age, and surgical history, with preoperative anxiety levels in a hospital in Surakarta. This research employs a quantitative approach with an analytical correlational research design. A total of 60 preoperative patients were selected using a convenience sampling technique. Patient anxiety levels were measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between gender and preoperative anxiety (p = 0.042) as well as surgical history and preoperative anxiety (p < 0.001). However, no significant relationship was found between age (p = 0.639) or education level (p = 0.72) and preoperative anxiety. Based on the findings, it is recommended that healthcare providers pay special attention to female patients and those undergoing surgery for the first time.
