HUBUNGAN DUKUNGAN KELUARGA DENGAN KEPATUHAN IBU HAMIL DALAM MELAKUKAN PEMERIKSAAN KEHAMILAN

Abstract

Background: Antenatal Care (ANC) is an essential strategy to maintain maternal and fetal health and to detect pregnancy complications at an early stage. Adherence to recommended ANC visits remains a challenge in many settings. Family support, including emotional, informational, instrumental, and appraisal support, plays an important role in encouraging pregnant women to attend regular antenatal care. Objective: To analyze the relationship between family support and pregnant women's adherence to antenatal care visits. Methods: An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 120 pregnant women attending antenatal care at Pematang Panggang III Primary Health Center. Participants were selected using consecutive sampling. Data were collected using a validated family support questionnaire and an antenatal care adherence checklist. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and multiple logistic regression with a 95% confidence level. Results: Most respondents reported good family support (70.8%) and high adherence to antenatal care (76.7%). Chi-square analysis revealed a significant association between family support and ANC adherence (p=0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that pregnant women receiving good family support were 4.35 times more likely to adhere to recommended ANC visits than those receiving poor support (AOR=4.35; 95% CI=1.89–9.98). Conclusion: Family support is significantly associated with antenatal care adherence among pregnant women. Strengthening family involvement, particularly husbands' participation, should be incorporated into antenatal care programs to improve maternal health service utilization.
